No meaningful discussion regarding the declared climate crisis, can be undertaken without understanding the properties of Carbon Dioxide or C02.
Presently you are inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide, three pounds per day exactly. And while you are breathing in oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide, all vegetation is ‘breathing’ in carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen through a process called photosynthesis. In other words, carbon dioxide is plant food and just as we need oxygen to live so does all vegetation need carbon dioxide to thrive and survive. This is why carbon dioxide is also called the GAS OF LIFE because without which all life on earth would perish. Just imagine a world without any vegetation but this is what would be if all carbon dioxide was pulled out of the atmosphere. And yet, this is what is proposed by politicians to ‘preserve’ life on earth.
Carbon dioxide is a trace gas and can be found in today’s atmosphere with 420 parts per million. With any amount of less than 150 part per million, plants starve and die. To put this into perspective, during the time of the dinosaurs, the CO2 levels are estimated to have been between 2000-4000 parts per million. Plants loved the abundance of CO2 and grew leaves as big as cars in size. In other words, C02 is plant fertilizer and considered the building block of life. Hence, CO2 is not a toxin or pollutant. It is odorless and not visible just like oxygen. Pointing to smokestacks with plumes of smoke coming out of them to demonstrate how polluting CO2 is, is entirely misleading because Carbon Dioxide is invisible to the eye.
CO2 and the Climate
If C02 is so beneficial, then what is all the fuzz about the negative effects of CO2?
CO2 is coined as a greenhouse gas meaning it is supposed to trap sun radiation on earth which apparently raises global temperature to the detriment of life on earth. One must ask how life was flourishing with 2000–4000 parts per million of CO2 during the Jurassic era in what is nowadays Western Europe when today 420 parts per million are said to be dangerous to life to the point that it causes extinction. And here we come to the climate predictions which are more puzzling than telling.
